Operations Supervisor – C5 Vacancy at Modikwa Platinum Mine

Modikwa Platinum Mine is currently inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the position of Operations Supervisor – C5 at their South Two Shaft business unit. This role reports directly to the Operations Leader and is a key position within their production and safety team.

Role Overview

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the safe and effective achievement of set production targets as dictated by the business plan. This involves optimizing production through effective planning, leading, and controlling resources from both a labor and production perspective. The incumbent will also have legal accountability with a 2.15.1 appointment in terms of the Minerals Act and Regulations.


Key Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: Grade 10 Certificate.
  • Certifications: Blasting Certificate for Scheduled Mines and a valid Certificate of Fitness (Red Ticket).
  • Experience: At least 5 years of mining experience in the capacity of a Miner. Previous experience as an Operations Supervisor will be a distinct advantage.
  • Skills: English Literacy is essential.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Communicate safety and production requirements effectively.
  • Identify and implement solutions to improve production operations.
  • Ensure employee competency and facilitate inductions for new staff.
  • Manage budget control and maintain documented controls/reporting.
  • Motivate, coach, and supervise employees within the unit.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and a safe working environment.
  • Conduct and record legal inspections as per regulatory requirements.

Package & Conditions

  • Remuneration: The package will be in accordance with the Modikwa package schedules.
  • Medical: Appointment is subject to being certified medically fit as per the Mine Health and Safety Act 29/1996.
  • Assessments: Applicants must be prepared to undergo job-related assessments if required.
